Te Rapa

NZ Post - Waikato Operations Centre (WOC) - Stage 1

Te Rapa is a new 10,000m² logistics centre for NZ Post, designed to support the operational demands of a major national courier and postal network. A planned Stage 2 will deliver a further 10,000m², bringing the facility to its full capacity.

The warehouse structure is purpose-engineered for logistics at scale — 106m wide by 96m long, with a double-span roof supported by a central column line, a 10m portal knee height, and a post-tensioned slab. The result is a clear, column-free operational floor capable of accommodating the full range of sorting, storage, and dispatch functions.

A 900m² office wing houses support staff and amenities including a lunchroom, with 115 dedicated staff carparks. The office entry is distinguished from the warehouse mass through a considered material palette — warm timber battens, standing seam metal cladding, and large-format louvred glazing give the staff and visitor-facing elevation a human scale and clear identity, anchored by the NZ Post brand.

The facility is designed with sustainability front of mind. Solar PV panels, LED lighting, low water use fittings, and low VOC materials reduce operational impact across the building's life. The site's high visibility from State Highway 1 is treated as an asset — the building presents a confident, well-composed face to one of Waikato's key transport corridors.
