Towers
Towers Hall, Whittaker Place, Grafton
Towers Hall is an interior refurbishment of an existing student dining hall at the University of Auckland. The existing space had generous ceiling height and good perimeter glazing, but lacked identity, efficient circulation, and had low usage outside of peak dining times.
The refurbishment introduces a varied seating landscape — from large group tables to individual settings — with flooring zones defining circulation and seating areas. Acoustic wall coverings along with soft-edged cabinetry and banquette seating replace the previous monolithic furniture, bringing warmth and definition to the space.
The servery is completely reconfigured around providing a destination dining experience. Individual counter spaces have been consolidated and total servery length increased to provide more generous and efficient circulation. Rounded timber joinery with durable engineered stone counter tops complements the existing timber ceiling. Contemporary white subway tile splash backs and accent tiles provide tactile and hard-wearing backdrop.
The overall transformation is an active social space that encourages interaction and connection throughout the day.
